LIVE WEBINAR: An Introduction to the Influence of Body Systems on Swallowing (2818-001)

Purpose: This live, one-hour webinar provides essential knowledge and skills for the Medical SLP caring for the adult patient with complex medical diagnoses. Emphasis is placed on practical clinical considerations of the body systems in dysphagia assessment and treatment, including an overview of selected medications. A case study is analyzed in order for the participant to integrate new knowledge.
About the Instructor: This course is taught by Brooke Richardson, MS, CCC-SLP, a Speech-Language Pathologist at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. She has 10 years of experience treating adults with complex medical needs in the acute and outpatient settings. Brooke is passionate about treating the whole patient, and she instructs graduate students and clinical fellows in doing the same. She has been instrumental in establishing the Respiratory Muscle Training program at UNC Rex. Prior to joining UNC Rex, Brooke was employed at Duke University Hospital where she was sought out by colleagues for her clinical expertise. She is a graduate of the Medical Speech-Language Pathology program at the University of Washington.
