Get Focused: A FEES Interpretation Course (4118-001)

This course is for clinicians who have already received FEES Training (either a Two-day FEES Training course or equivalent) and are currently using FEES in their practice. The purpose of this course is to deepen clinicians’ understanding of FEES and improve interpretation skills. This course will review a FEES protocol, incorporate rating scales, and provide verbiage for describing laryngeal abnormalities. Intensive interpretation practice will be provided to improve participants’ analysis of FEES exams and documentation of findings.

This course is taught by Beth Cormell, M.S., CCC-SLP and Selena Reece, M.S., CCC-SLP, BCS-S.
Beth Cormell, M.S.,CCC-SLP has been a Speech-Language Pathologist for over 25 years. She graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and is currently working as a clinical SLP at UNCRex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC. She initiated the FEES program at UNCRex in 1997, and since, has completed thousands of FEES. Beth not only trains all UNCRex speech staff on FEES, but has also been instrumental in training clinicians and implementing new FEES program throughout the country. She has taught FEES courses for more than 18 years, has presented short courses on FEES implementation and application at NCSHLA’s Annual Convention and at the ASHA Convention. She has been deemed competent for supervision and training in FEES by a board certified Otolaryngologist
Selena Reece received her Master’s degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003 and became a Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing in 2015. She has worked in acute care, outpatient, and inpatient rehabilitation settings. She currently serves as the Director of Educational Resources for Carolina Speech Pathology, while carrying an active caseload providing mobile FEES services.
Selena has been training clinicians on FEES throughout the U.S. since 2012 and was featured on Swallow Your Pride Podcast, Episode 18. She has been She has been deemed competent for supervision and training in FEES by a board certified Otolaryngologist.
